GAYS AND GOD'S WORD by Damon Pierson June 30 1998 This is my view through my interpretation of God's Word. Yesterday an event took place that was in direct opposition to the Word of God. Yesterday 200,000 people stood in support of the Gay lifestyle, and what it stands for 200,000 people stood up and said God we don't care what you think or say, we are going to do what we want to do! Gay pride, I believe the Word said pride comes before a fall! But even more disturbing than the fact that 200,000 people stood up for Gay rights, is the fact that no one stood up in opposition. We (the church) have become so powerless, so tolerant that we basically don't even have a voice. We didn't protest we didn't speak out, we sat around and did nothing! Why? Because we are caught up in a society where speaking out against gays has become an act of treason, Look at Reggie White, Green Bay Packers Football star. The statement that he made at the Wisconsin State Assembly was nothing but the Truth, but because he spoke out against Gays he was called a Racist. The bible speaks directly on the issue of Homosexuality in Gen. 19 (Sodom and Gomorah), Romans 1, and also in Revelation 21. But the bible also talks about those people that tolerate this type of behavior. Everyone in Sodom didn't want to sleep with the strangers that were visiting Lot. But they lived in the city and tolerated the behavior. We stand in that same position today, and what will we do? Don't get me wrong I'm not some Homo-Phobic, but I am a strict believer in the Word. I believe a homosexual is really no different than any other sinner ( we all sin), the differences are that hopefully as Christians we are trying to stop sinning, and hopefully the sin in our lives isn't the center of our lives. How can you be in sin, and defend your sin, and bad mouth anyone that tells you that you are sinning. Well its happening and I don't know what we are going to do. There is a generation growing up right now that is being taught that homosexuality, lesbianism, and bisexuality are accepted choices of Sexual Behavior, and that is wrong. We must stand firmly on our morals and our beliefs, we find ourselves sometime looking past the sin, because is it so wide spread that they have taken the emphasis away from the sinful act, and made themselves the victim. They now compare themselves and their fight for rights to blacks and the civil rights movement. I don't know about you but I don't have a choice of what color I am. But I do have a choice of who I sleep with whether I'm attracted to them or not. The name of this game is Discipline. I understand that these views are not going to be widely accepted or liked, but as you've already seen in the past that I don't write to look good or make friends, and thats all I have to say.
